A Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is an individual who assist a RN or LPN with dispensing and passing medications and or applying/administrating treatments. In addition, a QMA must obtain six (6) hours of medication related in-service education each year. A QMA works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse and can perform only procedures that are defined within the QMA scope of practice.
