A Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is a medical professional who is trained to perform blood draws on children and adults. They collect and prepare blood for testing so it can be analyzed in a medical laboratory. Phlebotomists are trained to collect blood samples to screen for, diagnose and monitor health conditions.
The CPT training is a 8 week program and consists of 64 hours of classroom and lab instruction. Participants MUST attend all sessions, and complete the 30 successful venipunctures to be eligible to sit for the CPT exam though NHA.
