Certificate in Qualified Medication Aide

Summary

Essential Healthcare Academy's Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Program is designed for experienced Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs), this program prepares students to safely administer medications and perform approved treatments under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with Indiana regulations. Through classroom instruction, skills laboratory practice, and supervised clinical training, students gain the knowledge and confidence needed to safely administer medications while providing compassionate, quality care.


Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Indiana Qualified Medication Aide certification examination and pursue employment as a Qualified Medication Aide.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet program eligibility requirements, including:

  • Active Indiana Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification 
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of CNA work experience within the previous two years 
  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Criminal background check 
  • Physical examination 
  • Current TB screening 
  • Completion of the admissions process
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
